Some men learn to work a room. Boramy learned to read one.
It's a different skill entirely. Working a room is about you. Reading a room is about everyone else — catching the temperature of two hundred strangers at once, hearing what the night is asking for before anyone says it out loud, and answering with exactly the right record at exactly the right moment.
Do that well and something almost chemical happens: strangers stop being strangers. The floor moves as one thing. For a few hours, a room full of separate lives feels like a single set of friends.
Boramy did that for a living, on some of the most famous dancefloors on earth. And when the touring life was over and the headphones came off, it turned out the skill wasn't about music at all. It was about people. Which is exactly how a world-famous DJ became one of the founding heartbeats of a private c1ub built an ocean away.

The World-Famous DJ
Born in Paris, built in Madrid, with his roots — and his heart — in Cambodia, Boramy came up the honest way: through vinyl, through hip-hop, through decades of nights where the only thing standing between a dead floor and a legendary one was the man behind the decks.
His style is what the industry calls open format — hip-hop into house into Latin into whatever the night demands. It's the hardest discipline in DJing precisely because it has no script. An open-format DJ can't hide behind one genre and one crowd. He has to read the room, every room, all night long.
The résumé that skill built speaks for itself. Residencies at STK Ibiza and Swag Ibiza, on the island that serves as the world capital of nightlife. Sets at Lío, Pacha, and Privilege. In Madrid, resident at Serrano 41 and the Philippe Starck-designed Ramses. Fashion Week at Just Cavalli in Milan. Olivia Valere in Marbella. An official DJ for the champagne house Luc Belaire, and the man on the decks at private events for Cristiano Ronaldo and USA Basketball.
In 2018, DJcity — the record pool that powers working DJs worldwide — handed him the keys to an entire country. As director of DJcity Spain, his stated mission wasn't to make himself bigger. It was to showcase and develop local talent — he launched with a team of six Spanish DJs and set about lifting all of them. Remember that detail. It's the most Boramy line in his whole press file.
Then came the summit. In 2022 he made his debut at Tomorrowland in Belgium — the Everest of dance music, the festival every DJ on earth dreams about. The same year, Atlantic Jaxx released his official remix of Basement Jaxx's classic "Jus 1 Kiss" (with Sem Thomasson) — his name, pressed onto a record that helped define an era.
Years ago, Boramy was the resident DJ at Serrano 41 in Madrid's Salamanca district. Today, that address belongs to him: he is co-owner of NÔMADÂ, the fusion restaurant and terrace upstairs, and IŠTAR, the two-floor "temple of Afrohouse" beneath it. He didn't just play the room until they gave him the keys. He read the room so well he ended up owning it.

Spend one night in his company and you understand both mottos are really one idea: Boramy wants to brighten every room he walks into. The compassion isn't a stage persona. He's the man watching the quietest person at the table, making sure the night includes them too. A DJ's whole career is generosity disguised as performance — giving the room what it needs and asking nothing back but the vibe. Boramy just never learned how to switch that off.
Cambodia: The Homeland, The Tour Guide, The Open Door
Ask Boramy where the heart in all of this comes from, and the answer isn't Paris or Madrid or Ibiza. It's Cambodia — the homeland.
He returns the way a man returns to a wellspring. And when the c1ub's founder landed in Southeast Asia, Boramy did what he has always done, at a scale no nightclub ever asked of him: he opened his home, and then he opened his heart.
He became the tour guide. Angkor at dawn, hands pressed together at the water's edge. The temple gates of Angkor Thom framed in a motorbike mirror. The roads, the food, the history, the family stories — a country introduced not as an itinerary but as an inheritance, shared freely with a friend.
Some of what was said on those roads belongs in articles. Most of it doesn't. That's the nature of stories told at temple gates — there are many still to be told, and they'll be told when Boramy decides the room is ready.
The Back Room: Where C1ub History Got Made
Here is a piece of c1ub lore that has never been written down until now: before The Country C1ub had a members wall, it had a back room.
Late-night drinks. A billiards table. Two friends talking about what a club for builders could be — the first private meetings in c1ub history, held not in a boardroom but in the kind of room Boramy has always understood best: small hours, good company, guards down, truth out.
And when the founder needed a base in Bangkok, Boramy didn't offer a recommendation. He offered a home. That's the sentence worth sitting with. Plenty of people will extend a hand. Boramy extended the root of his heart — his home, his homeland, his family's table.
The two of them struck the oldest deal in friendship: each man teaching what he knows. Cameron worked on Boramy's golf game — his alignment, his golf journal, and the course. Boramy worked on something far harder to coach: how to read a room. How to guide people through magical times. How to be a teammate first and everything else second.

Golf has its green jacket. The c1ub's is gold — and for a long time it existed only as an idea, a level, a rumor at the top of the ladder.
Then Boramy's birthday came around, and the founder wanted to give his friend something no one on earth had. So the idea became cloth: the first physical gold jacket ever made — tailored, crested with the gold wing, one of one.
It wasn't earned on a scoreboard. It was earned the way Boramy earns everything: by being the friend who was there before there was anything to join.

The Encore
These days, the world-famous DJ is mostly retired from the touring life. The man who spent decades reading rooms under strobe lights now reads greens instead — a genuine lover of the golf game, working on his swing with the same patience he once gave a crate of vinyl.
But retirement, for a DJ like Boramy, is a loose term. Now and again the night calls for it, and he steps back behind the decks — and for a few hours the old magic is right there, because reading rooms isn't a job you leave. It's who you are.
